Healthy Relationships Stories

Consultation has concluded

Each month we are offering students, staff and families the opportunity to share their own stories related to one of our Mental Health and Wellness themes.

November's theme is Healthy Relationships! You can write us a story or poem, make a video, draw or paint a picture, or tell your story in whatever other creative way you can think of.

For November, here are some things you may want to consider when telling or creating your Healthy Relationships story:

  • What are some of the things you do to build healthy family relationships?
  • What are some strategies that you use to reduce conflict?
  • Is there an activity or book or video that helped you learn about healthy relationships that you would recommend to others?

Everyone who shares a story will be entered into a monthly draw for a prize, may have their story featured in our Wellness Showcase in May, and will be eligible for our year-end grand prize. Staff or students who submit stories will also earn entries for their school. At the end of the year, one of our schools will also win a prize for their whole school!

  • Our family

by Leila Bee, about 2 years ago
We think it is very important to be close to your family - extended and non blood included. We spend a lot of time together as a family, we eat supper at the same table, we go to community events together, and we do different activities for holidays. When there is a conflict, we try to find where each individual is coming from, and work together to find a compromise. Sometimes it is as simple as wanting to finish the story first, or having the pick of where to sit on the couch.
  • Staying in touch with Family

by Katrina Yaworski , about 2 years ago
My family is spread out across the province. My parents in Edmonton, my sister in Fort McMurray and my brother in Calgary. One way we stay together is my having a family group chat. Its an endless stream of funny stories, accomplishments, questions, and plans made to see each other. It's full of pictures, videos, and many likes and laughing emojis. We still see each other throughout the year but this gives us a quick connection whenever we need it.
