Brinlee Beats Cancer
This story of Hope started Nov 4, 2020 when my 15month old granddaughter, Brinlee Untereiner, was diagnosed with cancer, stage 4 neuroblastoma. This was obviously shocking and devistating news for our family. As we tried to navigate what that meant for Brinlee and our family, the communities of Bonnyville, Cold Lake and Lloydminster, family members, business owners, churches, friends, acquaintances and staff of NLPS came together to support us. We were lifted up with more support than words could ever express. This journey has been a roller coaster of diagnosis, tests, blood work, surgery, blood transfusions, many dr. visits and 8 rounds of chemo therapy. Fast forward to today, April 13, 2021, today is a day full of hope, joy, love, appreciation and faith. We are celebrating today, as yesterday, April 12, 2021 was Brinlee's final chemo treatment and she was able and anxious to ring that infamous bell. The doctors are extremely happy with Brinlee's progress and despite stage 4 diagnosis they have given her a 95% chance of survival. Brinlee has completed the largest hurdle in this fight but it will continue for the next 2 years as they monitor her every 3 months with tests and scans to make sure she is in fact cancer free. We are so thankful for our faith in God and for all of the loving people who have surrounded us and continue to do so as we continue this journey with our little warrior and hero Brinlee. This journey has confirmed our hope in humanity and the example that people will come far and wide to do whatever is necessary to help people in need. My prayer is that anyone who receives this devastating diagnosis may experience the love that we have received during this time.
